When traveling to the Fort Detrick area, the post is accessible by rental car or taxi. The nearest major airport is the Frederick Municipal Airport. The MARC commuter rail service offers routes around the Fort Detrick community. Other major airport nearby include the Baltimore/Washington International located about 55 miles from the post; Washington Dulles International located about 45 miles from the post; and Reagan National located about 54 miles from the post. Airport shuttles offer service to Fort Detrick as well as Greyhound Buses. If arriving by car, follow I-70 or I-270 to Frederick and then follow signs to Route 15 North.
